I found The Wedding Guest Chaperone after my mum had her third stroke in December 2024 and it became apparent that she would need significant help to be able to attend our wedding in Ilfracombe in August this year. From the first contact, Poppy was simply incredible. When Mum suffered a hip-break 7 weeks before the wedding, I was really worried that it would mean she wouldn't be able to make it to the wedding after all, but Poppy took it all in her stride and reassured me that she could manage pretty much any care situation. Mum can be quite anxious and isn't keen on new people, but when Poppy came to meet her a couple of weeks before the wedding, they got on like a house on fire! I could tell that Mum felt instantly at ease in her presence; Poppy was so understanding of all Mum's quirks, and was able to communicate with her brilliantly, despite Mum being minimally verbal. 

When the actual wedding came around, Poppy collected Mum from her home in the New Forest and drove her safely to Ilfracombe, complete with car snacks and a playlist of songs that she had created from Mum's music interests. She stayed with her through the night and got her ready on the wedding morning, even curling her hair and doing her makeup! During the wedding itself, Poppy made sure Mum was comfortable and felt included in everything. Understandably, Mum got quite tired throughout the day and Poppy took her back to the accommodation for a rest, but made sure she was back for the main event: watching the solar eclipse over the cliffs of Ilfracombe. I will never forget the smile and gasp of joy my Mum gave when she first put on her eclipse glasses and looked up. 

As well as looking after my Mum, I feel like Poppy also looked after me throughout the day - she didn't let me worry for a moment and even encouraged me to go for a paddle when I was stood looking at everyone else enjoying the water! She fitted in with our guests so beautifully and some of my favourite photos from the day are ones that she took and shared with me. 

The next day, Poppy got Mum home to the New Forest and did a full hand-over with her usual carers, meaning that my little family and I could go on and enjoy a few days together post-wedding, knowing that she was home and safe. 

I will never be able to thank Poppy enough for all she did. We had the most incredible wedding and I am so grateful that my Mum was able to be part of it, and that I could relax and enjoy the day knowing that she was so well looked after. What an amazing service you offer Poppy, and what a fantastic human you are. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything!

On August 28th June chaperoned my 86yr old mum to my daughters wedding & was amazing. Collecting mum from home & getting her to the church in plenty of time. June made mums day so enjoyable, helping her to the toilet, getting her involved in photos, seeing the happy couple do their first day, the list is endless & mum loved every moment.

June drove her to the venue, stayed in an adjoining room for two nights and made our mother feel comfortable and cared for at all times. She gave our family peace of mind so we could all fully enjoy and participate in my nephew's wedding. June blended in beautifully and knew instinctively when she was needed.

We arranged for Poppy to collect my mum from her hotel, get her to the wedding and then do the reverse in the evening taking her right back to her hotel room. We got so much more than that. Poppy built a relationship with Mum before the day so that trust and familiarity was already built before they met in the morning. She also spent time with Mum, making sure she was ready and not rushed at both ends of the day. This all meant that I did not have to worry about any of the logistics or challenges of getting mum to and from the wedding which really added to our enjoyment of our Son’s wedding. This is a truly amazing service which Poppy offers and she clearly loves doing it too!

Poppy looked after my dad at my wedding, and I couldn't have asked for a better person to help out. She constantly kept in contact before the wedding to find out as much about dad as she needed to be able to look after him! She arrived early at the care home to help dad get ready and get used to her and sent the cutest picture of him all ready in his suit to me so I felt so comfortable knowing he was well looked after! No one had to worry about dad all day we were all able to enjoy ourselves knowing he was completely taken care of and well looked after! I couldn't have asked for a better day! And when he had enough and was tired she took him back to the care home so no one had to leave the wedding early! I'm so glad I found Poppy on Facebook!

We booked June,from Wedding Guest Chaperone ,for our daughter’s wedding to bring her 94 year old disabled Grandad Dennis to her wedding as a surprise!

I have to say the whole process from start to finish was a complete pleasure, with regular communications to update.

Dennis was picked up from his care home approx 2 hours from the venue, he was helped with his dress and getting ready. Delivered to the venue on time with the biggest smile I had seen in a long time. At the venue June took complete control looking after all of Dennis’s needs and making sure he was in the right place at the right time, and was then taken on his journey back to his home.

As a family we were not sure if Dennis would be able to attend the wedding at all, so it was a fantastic surprise for his granddaughter for him to be sat at the service.

As a family June ensured we had nothing to do to help Dennis, June took care of everything, removing the stress for us.

We were all able to have a wonderful day.

June was a delight and felt like part of the family, and on this day she helped to make dreams come true.

What a godsend Poppy is. Our beautiful daughter Faye got married at the weekend a 3 day event and Poppy was the constant companion for my mum who has complex needs. Poppy was like one of the family, she was full of love and empathy for mum. Having poppy join us helped us to enjoy the day knowing that mum was cared for her every wish was fulfilled by Poppy and we couldn’t have had the wedding we wished for without her. I found Poppy to help take care of my Grandma so that my family, especially Grandpa could relax and enjoy the day.
