Meet & Greet

Our optional Meet & Greet service gives your loved one the opportunity to meet their Wedding Guest Chaperone before the wedding day, helping them feel comfortable, confident and reassured about the support they will receive.

We understand that arranging support for an elderly or disabled wedding guest can feel like a big responsibility. You want your loved one to be included in every special moment while knowing they have someone dedicated to their individual needs throughout the day.

What happens during a Meet and Greet?

Around 4–6 weeks before the wedding, your Wedding Guest Chaperone can visit your loved one at home, in their care home or at another suitable location. This relaxed meeting allows us to get to know your loved one as a person, not simply understand their care needs. We can discuss: Mobility and any wheelchair or walking aid support Assistance getting around the wedding venue Toileting and personal care requirements Medication routines and prompts Transport arrangements Seating and wedding venue accessibility Food, hydration and rest requirements Any worries they may have about attending the wedding Their normal routines, interests and preferences How we can help them feel included in photographs, conversations and celebrations Arrangements for leaving the wedding and returning home or to their accommodation It is also an opportunity for your loved one to ask questions and become familiar with the person who will be supporting them.

  • Home visits or coffee shop meetings

We can come to them for a relaxed home visit, or they can meet their Wedding Guest Chaperone for a coffee and a chat somewhere local and familiar. There’s no formal assessment and no pressure. It’s simply a chance to get to know one another, talk through any mobility, personal care, accessibility or additional support needs, and find out a little more about their routines, interests and what will help them feel comfortable on the wedding day. Most importantly, it means that when the big day arrives, their chaperone is already a familiar, friendly face. Our Meet & Greet is an optional service and is charged separately.

  • Understanding likes, dislikes & family connections

We take time to learn about your loved one’s likes, dislikes, hobbies, interests and usual routines, as well as the little things that make them feel comfortable and at ease. We also talk about family connections – who’s who, important relationships and the people they will be looking forward to seeing on the wedding day. This can be particularly helpful when supporting an elderly guest or someone living with dementia or memory difficulties. Knowing that Sarah is the bride, Tom is the grandson, or Auntie Jean hasn’t been seen for years might seem like a small detail, but it helps us encourage conversation, recognise important moments and make sure your loved one feels included and connected throughout the celebration. Our aim is to provide truly person-centred wedding guest support, allowing us to arrive on the wedding day already knowing much more about the person we have the privilege of accompanying.

  • Tailored care planning

Tailored Care Planning – Centred Around Your Guest Every wedding is different, and every guest is different. That’s why careful, thoughtful planning is at the heart of what we do. Following the Meet & Greet, we build a clear picture of your loved one’s individual needs and how we can best support them throughout the wedding day. Our approach is completely centred around the guest, their wishes, routines, abilities, comfort and what matters most to them. We consider everything from mobility, personal care and medication prompts to transport, accessibility, seating, mealtimes, rest periods and returning home safely. We also think about the wedding itself – the timings, venue layout, important family moments and any potential challenges we can prepare for in advance. It’s often the smallest details that make the biggest difference. By planning ahead, we can anticipate your guest’s needs rather than simply reacting to them on the day. Our person-centred wedding care and guest support plans are individually tailored, helping elderly and disabled wedding guests feel safe, comfortable, included and, most importantly, part of the celebration.

  • Building trust and rapport

Trust is incredibly important when inviting someone new to provide one-to-one support on such a special day. Our Meet & Greet gives your loved one time to get to know their chaperone in a relaxed environment, without the excitement and pressures of the wedding day around them. We take time to listen, chat, laugh and build a genuine connection, allowing your guest to feel comfortable asking for help when they need it. For elderly guests, disabled guests or those living with dementia, having a familiar and trusted face beside them can provide valuable reassurance and continuity throughout a busy wedding day. By building that relationship beforehand, we can understand how your loved one communicates, recognise when they may need a little extra support and provide assistance in a way that feels natural, discreet and respectful. When the wedding day arrives, we don't want to feel like a stranger providing care. We want to be someone your guest already knows, recognises and trusts.
